Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease which affects multiple organs throughout the body. Due to its heterogeneous nature, diagnosis of SLE may be challenging and can lead to delays in physician referrals and severe disease complications.

Current standard of care for SLE includes the use of antimalarials and corticosteroids; however, some patients remain symptomatic and may require immunosuppressives or biologics. The main goal of treatment is to reduce the disease burden and improve quality of life.
